Multimedia Performance Progressions is a groundbreaking multimedia performance by award winning digital artist Marjan Moghaddam and guitarist/composer Adam Caine, featuring live improvised computer animation and music, at the Kumble Theater in downtown Brooklyn. Funded in part by the Brooklyn Arts Council and NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, this mesmerizing journey through visuals and music employs real time computer-driven animations that are displayed on a 30 foot video projection screen. The visuals are ‘played’ live on stage in what Ms. Moghaddam describes as “jamming with digital painting & sculpture on a screen”. The animations range from the hypnotic dance of materially ambiguous fluid forms to roaming explorations of dazzling architectural structures and pulsing psychedelic patterns. Adam Caine’s live guitar and electronics style encompasses extremes of dissonance and rhythmic agitation contrasted with softer and more dynamic passages, united by a unique sound-palette and highly-individual melodic sense. Together, they take the audience through a mind bending journey of shifting musical and visual terrains as a series of progressions. For Ms. Moghaddam the improvisational visual experience is influenced by the shamanic energy of Jackson Pollack’s paint dripping, while Mr. Caine's musical improvisation is rooted in the traditions of free-jazz, experimental concert music and avant-rock. Nick Lyons and Lorenzo Sanguedolce will be opening with a short saxophone duo. Ticket holders can signup at the event for a free workshop on visual music by Ms. Moghaddam on Wednesday October 22nd, at the Media Arts Department of the Brooklyn campus of LIU, on a first come first serve basis.
